Kier goes for LPG-powered transits

Source: Greenfuel Company

Kier has launched a new fleet of low-pollution vans powered by clean-burning alternative fuel to deliver housing maintenance services for tenants of Hammersmith & Fulham Homes in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.

Kier Building Maintenance (KBM), part of Kier Support Services, has ordered 22 Transit vans running on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) under a new contract to provide improvements, repairs and maintenance for more than 9,000 homes in the northern part of the borough.

The specially-adapted fleet, which includes 20 standard short-wheelbase T330s, a T300 higher roofline model for glazing work and a T350 tipper version for rubbish removal, has been leased from Kier Fleet Services, which arranged for the petrol-engine vehicles to be converted to run on LPG.

Running costs are reduced thanks to cheaper pump prices and exemption from the London congestion charge.
