EAST–WAY LPG taxi launchedSource: EAST JournalLaunched at the Transport for London Emissions Technology Fair, the new EAST-WAY taxi combines the best of the old with the best of the new. Developed in response to the forthcoming London PCO emission requirements the objective has been achieved in providing a cost effective package combining all the best features of the traditional taxi whilst providing a new 2.3 litre Ford LPG engine and automatic gearbox in a vehicle which has been totally refurbished mechanically and inside the vehicle. The result is a vehicle with a 100,000 mile, 3 year warranty which goes far beyond the London emission requirements and which will provide fuel cost savings of over 3p per mile compared with even the latest TX11 diesel. As these taxis can be purchased for half the price of a new vehicle, demand is also expected from cab drivers in other cities especially in view of the much quieter and smoother ride compared to a conventional diesel black cab.
